A D Shirley, SR, age 63, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at his home following an extended illness.

A D lived most of his life in Dahlonega, GA.

He was the son of the late Jesse and Ruby Shirley and Othor and Margo Bennett. A D was also preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Shirley, Milton Shirley, Jesse Black, Roy Black; sisters, Eva Shirley, Arletta Weeks, and Kathy Borner.

He is survived by his wife Mary "Sweet Pea" Shirley; son, A D Shirley, JR, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Mandy Blount, Cleveland, GA; daughter-in-law, Crystal Shirley; brother, Horace Shirley, Monticello, GA; sisters, Pat Burton, Westminster, NC and Monnie Lee, Westminster, NC; granddaughters, Ruby Dawn Shirley, Mary Kay Shirley, Eva Blount, Jessica Blount; grandsons, A D Shirley, III, Owen Blount, and TJ Blount; special niece and nephew, Amy and Pat Helm; best friends, Shane Savage and Randall Denny; and special friends, Fred and Jo Ann Savage and Billy Posten. A number of other relatives also survive.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, January 29, 2016 at Community Chapel Cemetery in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Bruce Blount and Rev. Shane Savage will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4 PM to 9 PM.
