Andrew "Andy"
York Glass
October 26, 1963 – March 26, 2026
Andrew York "Andy" Glass, age 62, of Murrayville, Georgia, died on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Emory University Hospital. Andy lived a life that was full, vibrant, and unmistakably his own.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Compton York Glass, and his mother, Kathryn Hull Glass. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Candace Cubera Glass of Murrayville; his brother, Stuart Hull Glass of Georgia; and his father- and mother‑in‑law, Joe and Nancy Cubera of Dahlonega, as well as other extended family. He leaves behind a circle of friends who were like family to him, especially Lon Gilbert, James Ivey, Henry Ostaszewski, and Andy Keels.
Andy was a 1981 graduate of Heritage High School in Rockdale County. After graduation, he went to Devry University, studying electronics. Andy later went to Clayton Junior College before transferring to West Georgia College, where he received his Masters of Psychology in 1991.
After three years of facilitating mental health counseling with children and families in Wyoming, Andy returned to Georgia to be closer to his own family. He gained employment with BellSouth Corporation, which would eventually become AT&T. He worked for them in various roles for over twenty years, excelling as an IT Senior Architect and Analyst, up until his death.
A man of deep faith, Andy was a practicing Catholic, and he carried his testimony and love for Jesus into every part of his life. He was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a man whose ethics, morals, and word were unshakable. Those who knew him will remember his booming laugh, his love of a good joke, and his gift for conversation—he could talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything. They will also remember his conversion story.
Andy was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in nature, especially hiking to the local waterfalls. Some of his happiest days were spent on the Appalachian Trail and driving the mountain roads with his wife. He loved exceptional coffee, quality hats and boots, and '70s and '80s classic rock. A true gearhead, he had a lifelong passion for cars, Jeeps, and all things mechanical. He perfected his craft of woodworking over many years and was known for crafting beautiful bowls. He was also a dedicated ham radio operator, known by his call sign WD4MYL. Andy took great pride in his marksmanship and his involvement with Project Appleseed. A voracious reader, he was always learning, always exploring, and always growing, until his very last days.
Andy adored his two dogs, Juno and Ranger, who were constant companions and sources of great joy. He treasured his time spent with his wife and friends at Blue 42 and Sweetwater Coffeehouse, where laughter, stories, coffee, and camaraderie were always in good supply.
Above all, Andy loved the Lord. He loved his family and friends: his beloved wife and soulmate, his brother, his friends who were like family, and all the special people who filled his life with meaning and purpose. His heart was pure, his loyalty fierce, and his presence unforgettable. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Andy's care teams, especially his hospice workers, at Emory University Hospital.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
