Anh Duc
Phan
May 1, 1943 – October 13, 2025
Anh Duc Phan, age 82 of Quảng Nam, Viet Nam and Dahlonega, Georgia passed away in the comfort of family on October 13th, 2025.
Anh was born on May 1st, 1943 in Quảng Nam province or modern Da Nang city to father Phan Duc Tham and Nguyen Thi Thanh. He met his spouse Phen Phan in Viet Nam where they have been together for 60 years. He originally worked as an English Professor in Viet Nam knowing how to speak Vietnamese, French, and English. His value for independence and education motivated him to seek more opportunities for his family. Between that time, he fought perilously alongside US soldiers during the Vietnam War for the Democratic party of Vietnam. Through his courage and camaraderie with his American friends, he was able to seek asylum for his family in the United States after the war. His sacrifices still impact his living family with many descendents being full American citizens with the freedoms that come with the privilege.
His first home in America was in Saint Paul, Minnesota November 1994 where he worked in the food department for United Airlines for years to support his family. He still has descendants up in Minnesota that keep his memory alive. Later, he would move down to Georgia to join his daughter Luu where he would look after his grandchildren alongside his wife.
He was known for his daily walks by his neighbors wherever he lived. Rain or shine, he loved the outdoors. Additionally, he was fond of animals as a gentle soul. He was a soft-spoken man whose integrity colored his actions and independence. People often described him as kind and generous. His legacy will be survived by his wife Phen Phan and children first daughter Nhi Phan, second daughter Uyen-Thao Phan, third son Doanh Phan, fourth daughter Thao Phan (however passed away), fifth son Nam Phan, and sixth daughter Luu-Quynh Phan. Additionally his 2 grandsons and 10 granddaughters and also 3 great-grandkids carry on his memory into the future. His offspring are successful business owners, doctors, and students in the community worldwide whose achievements are in part dedicated to his lifetime of courage and kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Viet Nam.
