Mrs. Arlean Barrett, age 86, of Dahlonega, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. Born on February 19, 1940, in Lumpkin County, she was the daughter of the late Guy W. Rider and the late Reba Lorene Bryant Rider.
Mrs. Barrett was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and aunt who cherished her family deeply. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the unwavering love she shared with those around her. Arlean and her beloved husband, Eugene, shared more than 68 wonderful years of marriage and were rarely ever apart, a true testament to their love and devotion to one another. She was affectionately known as "MawMaw" to her beloved grandchildren. Arlene's favorite time, when she was not with her family, was in her flower garden.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her sisters Verba Jean Gilreath and Marvine Wanamaker.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Barrett; daughter, Joan Greenwalt (Jim); son, Wayne Barrett (Tammy); granddaughters, Hannah Barrett Self (Dray), Katy Greenwalt, and Jennifer Greenwalt Harris (Daniel); grandson, James Albert Greenwalt, Keith Johns (Viki); great-grandchildren, Trevor Harris, Callie Self, Rhett Johns; brother, Larry Rider; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mrs. Barrett was a wonderful and deeply loved mother and wife whose memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Barrett and the Rev. Lance Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Anderson Underwood Funeral Home.
