Mrs. Barbara Ellen Summerour, age 76, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021. Barbara was born in White County on February 19, 1945 to the late Homer Summerour and the late Pauline Gooch Summerour. Everyone who was fortunate enough to have known Barbara knew that she was a true "rock" to many people. She was an extremely hard worker and made many sacrifices for the greater good. She raised many children - some of her own, many of others. She will forever be remembered as a loving grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and caretaker.

In addition to both parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Steven Ray; siblings, Ola Bell McElduff, Bill Summerour, Ruth Dover, and Henry Summerour.

She is survived by her children, Curtis (Inez) Ray of Cleveland, Ellen Latka of Dawsonville and Melissa Ray of Dahlonega; brother, Alfred (Gail) Summerour of Cleveland; grandchildren, Angel Dougherty, Alicia Dougherty, Tim Bennett, Stephen Latka, Jonathan Lock, Ashley (Bim) Rice, Stephanie Ray, Jessica Ray, Megan Ray, and Nicholas Ray; and great-grandchildren, Mason Jenkins, Emma Rice, Maddison Dougherty, Addison Rice, Micahlynn Dougherty, Skylar Bennett, Noah Ray, and Lucas Rice.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Summerour Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the funeral home.
