Benjamin Brown Edwards "Benjie", age 75, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on May 1, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born with a natural curiosity and a gift for fixing just about anything, Benjie was known far and wide as the man who could tinker his way through any mechanical puzzle. He was a true homebody at heart; happiest in the comfort of his own space, tending to his plants, watching hummingbirds dance around the yard, and sharing quiet moments with the dogs he adored. His gentle nature and easygoing spirit made him a friend to all who crossed his path.

Benjie was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Annette Edwards, and by his loving wife, Katherine "Kathy", with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion.

He is survived by his daughter, Delora "DeAnne" Annette Cantrell (Andrew), and his son, Benjamin Chad Edwards. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Benjamin "Collin" Edwards (Mary), Kaitlin Smith (Tristen), Brooklyn Haynes (Ackiem), Cassidy Edwards (Joseph), Landon Self, and Katheryn "Blakely" Shuttlesworth and 7 great grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Edwards (Tammie), and by two of his closest lifelong friends, Danny Lynaugh and Melvin Davis, who stood by him through every season of life. Several brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.

Benjie's legacy lives on in the countless things he repaired, the gardens he nurtured, the animals he loved, and the people whose lives he brightened simply by being himself.

Funeral Services for Mr. Edwards will be on Sunday, May 3rd of 2026 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dalton Delozier officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Family will be receiving friends and family starting at 1:00 PM until the service hour.
