Miss Brenda Benolia Winkler, age 67, beloved resident of Foothills Retirement Home of Dahlonega, GA passed away Saturday, June 1, 2014 following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Alto, GA, and had spent the last 10 years with her adopted family of Foothills. She loved people and would greet every visitor at the door. She made many friends in the Lumpkin County community, and liked to help everyone at the home. She was of the Baptist Faith. Miss Winkler was the daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Winkler, and was also preceded in death by her brother, James Winkler. She is survived by her sister, Rachel Pritchett, Cornelia, GA; adopted family, Perry and Glenda Weaver and family; the staff of Foothills Retirement Home; special friends, Dwight "Doll" Dean and all of her Foothills family; and all of the Saturday night pickin' group members who encouraged her to participate in every singing. A memorial service for Brenda is scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
