Obituary

Charles Winfred Graham, age 81, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on October 31, 2026.

Winfred was born on February 20, 1945, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Knox Harvey "Shorty" Graham and Mary Lou Graham.

Winfred was a man whose life spoke through his kindness, generosity, and the love he showed to others. He had a heart for those less fortunate and remained faithful in finding ways to help others. He understood that blessings were not meant to be taken for granted, and he lived with gratitude for what he had rather than focusing on what he did not. He knew that a meaningful life was not measured by what a person accumulated, but by what they gave and how they treated others.

His love was not always expressed through words, but it was felt deeply through his actions, his willingness to help, and the way he quietly showed up for the people around him.

He was never one to make a conversation about himself. Instead, he was genuinely interested in others, always more concerned with hearing about your life than talking about his own. He found joy in the people around him and had a way of making others feel seen and cared for.

When his grandchildren and great grandchildren came into the world, life took on an even greater meaning. They became his greatest joy, and so much of his world revolved around them. The love he had for them was immeasurable, and being their Papa was one of the roles he cherished most.

His life was a quiet testimony of faith, generosity, humility, and love. He may not have always said everything that was in his heart, but he showed it in the way he lived. His legacy will be remembered in the lives he touched, the people he helped, the grandchildren he adored, and the example he left behind.

He lived his faith, loved through his actions, and gave more than he ever asked in return. That is the legacy he leaves, and one that will continue through the generations who were blessed to call him theirs.

In addition to his parents, Winfred was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Abercrombie, Wesley Graham, and Walter Graham; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Louise Townley; brothers-in-law, Dean Townley, James Townley, and John Gober; and sister-in-law, Martha Talley.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Graham; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Chris Watkins; grandchildren, Christen Watkins Chumbler (Ricky) and Graham Watkins; great-grandchildren, Scout Chumbler and Hayes Chumbler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Nadine Crumley; sister-in-law, Mary Gober; brother-in-law, Wayne Abercrombie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Stone and the Rev. Franklin Grant officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.
