Mr. Clarence Edward Woody, Jr., age 77, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Mr. Woody was born in Lumpkin County on August 15, 1946, to the late Clarence Edward Sr. and Katie Inez Woody.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty years Sue Carney Woody, and his brother Garland Woody.

A patriot through and through, Mr. Woody served his country with honor in the United States Army. Yet, beyond his service, he was a man of simple pleasures and profound love. He found joy in the great outdoors, pursuing his passions for hunting and fishing, and found solace in the rhythm of dance. However, above all, his heart belonged to the cherished moments spent with his beloved grandchildren, a testament to the depth of his love and devotion.

Survivors include his children Nathan Edward Woody (Cynthia), Cumming; Shannon Grizzle (Rusty), Dawsonville; Stephanie Phillips, Dawsonville; grandchildren Caden Eulises Woody, Kayla Davis (Curtis), Karlie Jones (Ryan), Nate Grizzle, Amber Phillips; great-grandchildren Emorie Laine Davis, Graelyn Sue Davis; siblings Lynette Stowers, Ricky Woody; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with military honors.  The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Mr. Woody's wishes were to be cremated after the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
