Clyde
Gaddis
October 15, 1944 – February 22, 2024
Archie Clyde Gaddis was born on October 15, 1944, to John Alexander "Zanders" Gaddis and Maybell Black Gaddis. He passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his nieces, Hannah Marie Gailey and Dana Catherine Gaddis.
He worked for the local telephone company for 39 years and enjoyed playing music with his co-workers and friends in his spare time. He was a member of the Remember When Band and played many local concerts over the years. In his younger days, he was also employed by L. J. Justus at Clover Dale Milk as a truck driver delivering milk. This job provided the perfect cover for marrying his wife, Ann Edwards Gaddis, who left her home early one morning to accompany Clyde on his milk route in 1964.
His warm smile was a joy to his family and friends. He was dependable. He always showed up when his family and friends needed a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Edwards Gaddis, his daughter Gerri Gaddis Smith and son-in-law Chris Smith, his son Roman Gaddis and daughter-in-law Andrea Conarro Gaddis, and his grandchildren Owen Woody, Patrick Woody, Cecilia Woody and Tessa June Gaddis. He is also survived by brothers Dennis Gaddis, Johnny (Deb) Gaddis, Wayne (Angie) Gaddis, sister Tessa (Mark) Gailey and several nieces and nephews, who love him dearly.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega, Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega, Georgia. The Rev. Kris Butler and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
