Corene Edwards Patton Jones, a lifelong resident of Dahlonega, GA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on June 12, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family and community.

Corene was born on June 9, 1926, to the late Homer and Leona Higgins Edwards. She was preceded in death by siblings Nellie Faye Edwards, Annie Kate Wigley, Clellan Crowe, Ethel Lou Jones, John L. Edwards, Robert Edwards, Ray Edwards, and George Edwards. She shared a special bond with each of her siblings, which she treasured throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Lumpkin County High School, Corene went on to serve her community as a dental assistant, working alongside Dr. Hancock, Dr. Popp, Dr. Williams, and later for the 9th District Health Department. Her caring nature and commitment to her work made significant impacts on the lives of many.

Corene was married to William Lloyd Patton for 25 years until his passing and later to James E. Jones, also for 25 years until his passing. Both marriages were marked by deep love and mutual respect.

As a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Corene's faith was a guiding force in her life.

Corene is survived by her sister Jean Beck; her step-son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Gloria Jones; and her step-grandson Gabriel Jones. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Corene's warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind.

A graveside service will be held on June 13, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Community Helping Place or Family Connections in her name.
