Daniel John
Dupuy
Apr 11, 1961 — Aug 17, 2026
Daniel “Danny” John Dupuy, 65, passed away on August 17, 2026.
Danny was born on April 11, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Harold and Joan Dupuy. He grew up in Chamblee, Georgia, and later graduated from Georgia Southern University. Throughout his career, Danny worked with Turtle’s, Westvaco, and Value Music.
Danny was a man who never met a stranger. Outgoing, happy, friendly, and social, he had an easy smile and laugh that could brighten any room. He was known for teasing and joking with those around him and leaves behind countless memories of laughter and good times.
Above all else, Danny was incredibly proud of his children, Kaitlin and Branson. He would volunteer to attend school field trips whenever he could and even coached little league teams, always happy to encourage them and be part of their experiences.
Danny enjoyed supporting his children’s respective collegiate football teams: Kaitlin’s Georgia Bulldogs and Branson’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He famously drove his truck with a “house divided” license plate and would alternate which team’s hat he would wear depending on which child he was spending time with.
Danny loved the outdoors, especially camping at the lake with his children and his dogs. Throughout the years, his beloved dogs Barney, Sadi, Elsie, and Blue were an important part of his life. He was also an avid fan of classic Southern rock and seemed to know every song and artist that came across the radio. And when Grandma made her famous gumbo, Danny was always happy to enjoy a bowl (or two).
Danny will be deeply missed by his children, Kaitlin (Scott) MacGillivray and Branson Dupuy; his grandson, Joseph Branson “JB” MacGillivray; his siblings, Jolene (Judge) Mitcham, Steve (Shirley) Dupuy, and Susan Dupuy; and many extended family members, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Danny’s life was filled with family, friendship, laughter, music, and countless memories. His easy smile, quick laugh, and ability to make people feel at ease will be remembered and cherished by all who loved him. Though he is no longer here to cheer from the sidelines, tell a joke, or switch hats between the Dawgs and Yellow Jackets, the memories he made with his family will live on forever.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA, on August 29, 2026, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow.
To honor Danny’s love of animals, the family asks that any memorial tributes be made to: VEG Cares | VEG ER for Pets Alpharetta, GA location.
