Denny Joe Sullens, age 74, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born on December 10, 1949, to the late Walter Joe Sullens and the late Nora Parks Sullens, Denny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Deborah Young Sullens of Dahlonega; daughters Tammy (Greg) Bowling of Gainesville and Sandy (David) Leffew of Dahlonega; grandchildren Jacob Bowling, Kaylee (Nathaniel) Samsel, Noah Arrowood, Micah Arrowood, Joshua Arrowood, and Caleb Arrowood; and sister Carolyn Seabolt. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also mourn his passing.
Denny was a pillar of his community and an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. His dedication to the church, his church family, and the choir was unwavering. His love for Mt. Olive Baptist Church extended beyond the walls, and he will be remembered for his commitment and service.
A man of the outdoors, Denny's passion for hunting and fishing was contagious. He shared these cherished moments with his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "papa." His ability to work hard and play hard was a testament to his character, and he loved with a depth that touched the lives of those around him. Denny's love was not only profound but unconditional, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral services to celebrate Denny's life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. Ricky Stone and the Rev. Terry Head will officiate, and interment will follow in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in remembrance of Denny to be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Contributions can be sent to Mt. Olive Baptist Church C/O Jerry Seabolt at 1078 Claude Parks Road, Murrayville, Georgia, 30564.
