Mr. Dewey Rider, age 90, of Dahlonega, GA died Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Dewey Rider was a local business man, a devoted husband, a loving father. Dewey started a milk business back in 1960 where he delivered milk door-to-door and to local stores for years. Later he and his daughter Maxine ran a tire company just off the square in Dahlonega. In his retired years, he enjoyed the simple quiet life of family and friends, spending time with his lifelong friend Howard Wilkins, and his loving wife of almost 70 years, Pauline Rider. As his health declined he devoted his time to his children and grandchildren. The world's greatest father, husband and grandfather..Lumpkin County has truly lost a great man. Dewey served his country in the United States Navy and was of the Baptist Faith. He was the son of the late Crawford and Susie Stone Rider, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Rider; brothers, Arthur Stone, Walter Rider, Leonard Rider, and James Rider; and great granddaughter, Anakalia Seabolt. Dewey is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Jean Rider, Murrayville, GA; daughter, Maxine Rider; daughter and son-in-law, Reba and James Grizzle, all of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Sheri Miller, Mike Seabolt, and Megan Seabolt; and great grandchildren, Leah Seabolt and Canaan Miller. Many lifelong friends and a number of other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Dewey are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. JR Fields will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 2 PM until 9 PM, and again on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 9 AM until the time of service.
