Mr. Don Cantrell, age 65, of Suches, formerly of Dahlonega, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022.

Don was born in Lumpkin County on June 14, 1956, to the late Travis and Georgia Ann Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Danny Corbin, brothers Joseph Cantrell and Pep Cantrell, sisters Peggy Martin and Lois Morgan. Don graduated from Lumpkin County High School. He then entered the military and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Don worked for many years at Torrington, where he made many friends. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. Don was lovingly called "Papa" by his beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Lora Cantrell; son and daughter in law William and Angie Corbin; daughter and son in law Amanda and Matthew Dunn; son and his fiancé Timothy Cantrell and Ann Baxter; daughter in law Alicia Cantrell, all of Dahlonega; sister Mary Strickland (Sammy), Dawsonville; brother Ronald Cantrell (Joan), Dahlonega; life brothers Raymond Posey and Michael Dixon; grandchildren Amber Ray (Matthew), Hope Corbin, Spencer Dunn, Isaac Dunn, Ivre Cantrell, Alissa Cantrell, Madison Cantrell, Izaiah Cantrell, Jada Baxter, Jasmyn Baxter, Joseph Corbin; great-grandson Jadon Ray; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with military honors. The Rev. Jason Hester will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Roy officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
