age 33, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. Dora was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and had worked as a vet assistant for Dahlonega Veterinary Clinic at one time. She had a great love for her family and animals, and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Mrs. Merck is preceded in death by her father, William David Maupin, and her step-father, David Davis. Dora is survived by her husband, John Merck; son, William David Merck; mother, Janie Sue Maupin, all of Dahlonega, GA; brother, "Little Pete" Maupin, Las Vegas; and sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer Lynn and Eric Fitt, Louisiana. Several aunts, uncles, and numerous other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Dora are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 4 PM until 9 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2013, and until time of service on Monday, October 28, 2013.
