Obituary

Doreen Mary Dunlap, 83, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away early Monday morning, February 17, 2025, her two loving sons by her side. She was born on January 21, 1942, in Massachusetts to Annette Jacqueline Harrison (neé Pomerleau) and Thomas Joseph Mannion. A woman of unwavering faith and boundless love, Doreen devoted her life to her family, her Catholic faith, and serving others.

She was an active and dedicated member of the Siroki Brijeg Franciscan Fraternity and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Luke's Catholic Church, always living out the values of compassion, generosity, and humility. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through all joys and challenges with grace and strength.

Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved and cared for deeply. As a devoted mother, she always placed the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her home was a place of warmth, faith, and hospitality, where family and friends gathered to share in her kindness and love.

She is survived by her children Peggy Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, Teresa Sullivan Jones, James Sullivan, Lynda Leia Dunlap, stepdaughter Christina Sharp and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her love and guidance. She is preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Mary Sullivan.

A funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church, officiated by the Martyrs of Siroki Brijeg Franciscan Fraternity, Thursday, March 6th at 11am. Reception will be held directly after the service behind the church at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Martyrs of Siroki Brijeg Franciscan Fraternity, continuing her legacy of service and faith.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
— 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
