Mrs. Dorothy Mae Dover, age 91, of Dahlonega, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024.  She was born in Lumpkin County on May 29, 1933, to the late John Wesley and Mabell Ray Grizzle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Junior Dover; daughters Martha Jean Holloway, Gail Barnes, Debbie Rinck; and sisters Jean and Stella.

Dorothy was lovingly known as Granny Dover. She was born with a heart full of love for everyone and a spirit dedicated to hard work. Dorothy found joy in gardening. She particularly enjoyed the tranquility and satisfaction of cutting grass with her push mower. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, where she cooked with love for her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Ann Ash (Glenn) of Dahlonega, Carolyn Fuller (Jerry) of Clermont, and Wanda Dodd (James Dills) of Dahlonega; sons Dennis Dover (Christine) of Lula, Wesley Dover of Murrayville, Scotty Dover of Murrayville, Shane Dover of Murrayville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special daughter Michelle Hagwood Watts (Bruce) of Crawford; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, June 28, 2024, at Wauka Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Chambers officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
