Dot Elaine
Sanford
December 18, 1942 – April 13, 2026
Dot Elaine Sanford, age 83, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on April 13, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on December 18, 1942, in Senoia, Georgia, Dot lived a full and beautiful life, one defined by faith, service, and the deep love she poured into her family.
To her family, Dot was the very definition of a devoted Nana. She cherished every moment spent loving on her sweet and precious grandbabies, and they loved her right back with all their hearts. Her joy in them was unmistakable, and being their Nana was one of her greatest blessings.
A strong and faithful Christian, Dot lived her life with a servant's heart. She put others first without hesitation, offering kindness, comfort, and care to anyone who needed it. Family and friends were the center of her world, and she found purpose and fulfillment in loving them well.
Dot had a special fondness for roses, smelling them, admiring them, tending to them. She also loved to cook, especially for her family, a perfect reflection of her giving spirit. Her home was a place where love was felt in every meal, every gathering, every quiet moment.
Dot is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jackie Eady; her husband, Earl Sanford; her first husband, Lewis Whitt; and her siblings Ida Spratlin, Joel Eady, George Eady, Mercer Eady, Evelyn Miller, Barbara Price, Betty Mills, and Hazel Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Dwayne C. Whitt of Atlanta, Georgia, Karan Whitt Stephens (Jerry) of San Antonio, Texas, and Vickie Harris (Garrett) of Dahlonega, Georgia; siblings Bernice Crawford (Carl), Linda Sparacino (Jim), Sharon Pritchett; beloved grandchildren Danielle Stephens, Kaycee Stephens, Garrett Harris Jr., Blake Harris, Colin Harris, and Baylee Harris; and her great‑grandchildren Parker Stephens, Annamarie Juarez, Luka Mateo Juarez, and Hadley Harris.
Service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson Underwood Funeral Home with the Reverend Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
