Mrs. Eliza Mae Fortner, age 85, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Born on March 4, 1941, in Cleveland, Georgia, Eliza Mae was the daughter of the late Samuel Carter and the late Florence Davis Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henley Fortner.

She is survived by her children, Carlton and Sandy Fortner of Dahlonega and Dwayne and Cindy Fortner of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Sarah and Alan Jackson of Clermont, Jess and Ashton Fortner of Dahlonega, and Gracie Fortner of Dahlonega; two great grandchildren, Will and Levi Jackson; siblings, Ruth McDuffie and David Carter; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

It was Mrs. Fortner's wish to be laid to rest beside her loving husband in the Cemetery of Cavender Creek Baptist Church. In accordance with her wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the Cemetery of Cavender Creek Baptist Church. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
