Grindle
September 22, 1937 – July 17, 2024
Mary Elizabeth Grindle died peacefully after a brief illness on July 17, 2024, at the age of 86.
Mrs. Grindle is survived by her husband Robert Grindle; sibling Andrew J. Jr. and Marsha Fields; children, Walter and Patty Grindle; Phillip and Dawn Grindle; grandchildren, Austin, Coleman, Logan, Lila, Lydia, and Lena Grindle; all of Dahlonega, Georgia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Grindle is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. Fields Sr. and Eliza Belle Fields of White County, Georgia and sibling, Homer Lee Fields of White County, Georgia.
Mrs. Grindle was born on September 22, 1937, in White County, Georgia. She grew up in White County in the Christian faith and attended White County High School where she graduated in 1956. She married Robert Grindle on January 21, 1956. They were married for 68 years. They moved to Dahlonega, Georgia, where she became a homemaker. Over the next several years, they welcomed two sons into their home where Mrs. Grindle taught them the important values of her faith and family. Her children remember her as a thoughtful, independent, and devoted mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals, be true to themselves, and to uphold the values of their namesake.
Mrs. Grindle was accomplished at business, bookkeeping, cooking, gardening, and caregiving. She worked with her husband at Robert Grindle Concrete Construction Company for years helping to establish a successful private business. She managed all the records, transactions, and bills throughout the decades for the business. She was a talented and dedicated individual with a quick wit and an abundant spirit. She was a deeply caring person and enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors. Over the years, she has cooked and welcomed many of those in the Cavender Creek Community into her home.
She found joy in gardening and planting a wide variety of flowers and vegetables. She instilled these values of learning about the natural world and hard work into all her children and grandchildren, often spending hours in the spring and summertime explaining how to tend to the land around her home. She enjoyed traveling and explored much of the United States with her family. She fondly remembered her trips out west and her husband's Navy reunions. Mrs. Grindle was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
