Mrs. Ellen Joyce Mason, aged 87, of Dahlonega, sadly left us on May 28, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

Ellen was born in Alabama on December 8, 1934, and as a young girl moved with her family to River Rouge, MI. After her husband retired, they divided their time between River Rouge and his hometown of Dahlonega. Ellen was an avid reader of fiction and loved Dwight Yoakam and country music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Mason, her brother Hoyt Smith, her mother, Pernie Smith, and her father, John Smith.

Ellen is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Mason, of Hendersonville, TN, two granddaughters Laura Fitzgerald, of Dobbs Ferry, NY, her children, Keira and Adrien, and Julie (Heath) Thacker of Chesterfield, VA, and her daughter Zoe, and a brother DeWayne (Mary) Smith of Leesburg, FL.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, June 10, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
