Esther Laronia Horton Walden, age 81, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015. She spent most of her adult life in Lumpkin County and retired from North Georgia College. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Dawson County. Esther was the daughter of the late John Emmett and Mary Lucy Horton, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Pete Walden; daughter, Beverly Jane Walden; and brothers, Edgar and Lenward Horton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Janice Walden, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Josephine Long, Jackson, GA; grandchildren, Savannah and Josh Cook, Heather Walker, Makayla Walden, and Samantha Sheriff; great grandchildren, Weston Bone, Lane Cook, and Cole Burkett. Funeral services for Esther are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County. Pastor Mark Biddy and Pastor Charles Blackstock will officiate. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 5 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
