Obituary

Evelyn Fay Irvin, age 90, of Murrayville, Georgia, passed away on September 26, 2025.

Mrs. Irvin was born on April 19, 1935, in Morganton, Georgia, to the late John David Wilkins and the late Eunice Kincaid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Rushton; and sisters Mary Goddard and Glendys Benton.

Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and faithfulness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a loyal and active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and cherished the fellowship of her church family.

She is survived by her children, Connie (Jim) Deming of Graham, NC, Stephanie Lofton of Kennesaw, GA, and Stephen (Rochelle) Rushton of Dahlonega; grandchildren Michael Deming, Jonathan (Maggie) Deming, Drew (Heidi) Deming, Ashley Smith (Fiancé Brandon Rennolds), Evan Lofton, Katie (Guy) McClung, and Lindsey Rushton; and siblings Linda (Jim) Folk, Betty (Paul) Pace, Tommy Wilkins, and Anthony (Sherry) Wilkins. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives who will deeply miss her.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The Rev. Les Fuller and the Rev. Tim Hicks will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Conyers, Georgia. A visitation will be held at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM.
