Obituary

Florence Marie Satterfield, 83, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on December 12th, surrounded by the love of her cherished family. Born on August 4, 1942 in Dahlonega, Georgia, Marie was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Allene (Loggins) Jenkins, Sr. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Harvey Gene Satterfield, Sr. She is survived by her son, Harvey Gene Satterfield, Jr. (Kathi Haney); sister, Shirley Knight; brother, Robert W. Jenkins Jr. (Tudge); her grandchildren - Heather Satterfield (Ridge Bafile), Stephanie Satterfield, and Dustin Satterfield (Carole Koehler); great-grandchildren, Delilah and Walker Satterfield, and bonus great grandson, Brayden Black; niece, Roxanne Lingerfelt (Jeffrey), and her special friend, Shannon Sexton.

Her life was defined by kindness, hard work, and a deep commitment to the many people and community for whom she cared for so dearly.

Marie served her community with honor through her work of 50 years at the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office. Here she was known for her reliability, compassion, and steady presence. Her dedication left a lasting impact on her co-workers and all who crossed her path.

She also shared a special chapter of her life with her sister, Shirley, as the two proudly ran Dipper Dan's, a beloved local spot remembered fondly by many. Together, they created a place filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweet joy of a good, old-fashioned burger and fries.

A woman of remarkable character and community spirit, Marie was recognized as one of Lumpkin County's Leading Ladies, a distinction that reflected her influence, service, and well-deserved respect she earned throughout her life. She served as a former Dahlonega City council member. Her pride in her hometown shone especially bright when she was crowned Gold Rush Grand Marshal in 2023, an honor that celebrated her grace, spirit, and deep connection to the heritage of her community.

The heart of Marie's world was her family. She poured love into every role she held—sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother—always offering guidance, comfort, advice, and a listening ear. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, each carrying pieces of her strength, humor, and gentle spirit. We will carry you with us always.

Marie will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
