Gail June
Piper
August 18, 1938 – May 23, 2026
Gail June Piper, 87, recently of Dahlonega, Georgia and lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026.
Born August 18, 1938, in Lamar, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Dwight and Mary Heath of Lamar, Colorado.
Gail lived a rich and full life. Her door was always open to chat with a neighbor, talk on the phone, or pray for a need. Much of her life centered around her farm and ranch interest in Colorado, church and community activities, and keeping track of all her family. She was known for her resilient spirit, her warm and welcoming smile, and her wonderful sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest days. She was very patriotic with a deep love for her country and always had an American flag flying outside her home.
Gail was one who endured many joys and extreme sorrows, but through it all her resolute faith in the Lord was steadfast. Her example of determination and survival will remain an inspiration to all who knew her.
G'ma Gail was loved deeply by her family and will be missed greatly.
She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Heath Piper, Sr., daughter Kerry Lynn Piper Zagata, and her sister, Linda Sue Williams.
She is survived by her youngest daughter, Deborah Piper Copher and son-in-law, Todd Copher, of Oakwood, Georgia, her son, James D. Piper and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Piper, of Kuna, Idaho, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service with close family will be held in Gainesville, Georgia.
Burial and internment will take place later this summer in Lamar, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center - nghs.com/foundation/hospice
