George “Huff” Brown Jr., 86, of Dahlonega, GA (formerly of Meridian, MS), died at home on September 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 19, 1939, to George Huff Brown Sr. and Bonnie Louise Raley Merworth in Vicksburg, MS. Huff was raised in DeKalb, MS, and was a proud graduate of DeKalb High School. He pursued his education at Mississippi State University, where he was active in the Accounting Club, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, and played saxophone in the Famous Million Dollar Band. He graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. His time as a Bulldog solidified a lifelong passion for MSU sports, and he remained a devoted, faithful fan of Mississippi State football throughout his entire life.

Following his college graduation, Huff answered the call to serve his country, entering active duty in the United States Army in 1962. He honorably served as a Finance Disbursing Officer, receiving a Marksman (Carbine) award, and achieving the rank of First Lieutenant before being relieved from active duty in 1964. He retired from Meridian Mattress Factory in Meridian, MS, where he was Executive Vice President. Huff was a member of E.J. Knox King Solomon Lodge No. 130, the Meridian Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Hamasa Shrine Club, where he proudly served as Recorder.

He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching both college and NFL football, working crossword puzzles, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Huff was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Alice Carol Brown; his daughter, Patricia Diane Whitaker; his honorary grandson, Kane Solberg Mann; his best friend, Ken Rainey; and his parents.

His legacy of love lives on through his family who adored him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jason Gillespie; his daughter, Tracy Donaldson; his grandchildren, Jessica Beddingfield (Brandon), Brandon Whitaker (Taylor), Gray Harrison, Austin Gillespie (Samantha), Trevor Pritchard (Annie), EJ Donaldson (Jazmine), Jade Weldon (Joseph), and Brayden Maggard; nine great-grandchildren, with one more due in January; and many honorary children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren who loved him as their own.
