Mr. George Gilbert Stinson, age 53, of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017.

George was born in Gainesville, GA on June 6, 1964 to the late Benny L. and Lissie Guyton Stinson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Garrett.  George has been in Law Enforcement for 25 years. He served Gainesville Police Department, Dawson County, Lumpkin County, and most recently the Helen Police Department.  George was the first K-9 officer for Lumpkin County serving with "Becky".  He was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Racheal Stinson, Dahlonega; sons, Damian Stinson and Adrian Stinson, both of Dahlonega; sister and brother in law, Elizabeth and Johnny Ledford, Flowery Branch; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.  Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
