Geraldine S. McKinney, age 83, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on January 20, 2026.
She was born on October 5, 1942, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Vernon and Lula Sullens. Geraldine was preceded in death by her children, Darrell Edwards and Lynn Savage; and her brothers and sisters, Joe Sullens, Fred Sullens, Ray Sullens, Joanne Hughes, Betty Mason, Dorothy Lingerfelt, and Margaret Trammell.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Todd) Abercrombie of Dahlonega, Daniel (Sherry) Edwards, Willie McKinney, and son-in-law Freddy Savage of Dawsonville, Georgia. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Billy (Nancy) Sullens of Gainesville, Georgia; Bobby (Sandy) Sullens of Brooksville, Florida; Stanley (Ogie) Sullens of Macon, Georgia; Pattie (Kenneth) Mulkey and Verona Castleberry, both of Dawsonville, Georgia; and Ode Sullens of Dahlonega, Georgia.
Geraldine was a proud grandmother to Jared (Rachel) Abercrombie, Tyler Abercrombie, Jacob Abercrombie, Kirk Savage, Keith Savage, Blake Savage, Beth Savage, Crystal Jones, and Jade Stevens, and a beloved great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren.
Known affectionately as "Memaw" and "Nanny," Geraldine was a devoted and loving mother who never met a stranger and was loved by many. She worked for several years at the Chevron gas station near Trammell Tire and dedicated over 30 years of service to Pinetree. Her kindness, strong work ethic, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Geraldine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Church of The Almighty God in the Auraria Community. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
