Harriet McElfresh Dixon, age 98, formerly of Irwin, PA and a resident of Cumming Nursing Home, Cumming, GA, passed away peacefully Friday, July 27, 2018 at the nursing home.
Born June 28, 1920 in Irwin, Westmoreland County, PA, Harriett was the daughter of Alfred and Margaret Allen Radford. Harriet graduated from Norwin High School. She married H.C. (Bill) McElfresh in 1943 and they resided in Irwin, PA. Bill was deceased in 1988.
Harriet was a member of First United Methodist Church of Irwin where she taught fourth grade Sunday School for many years. She devoted her life to her children, family, church and friends. She enjoyed family activities, cooking, and traveling later in life. Harriet's fondest memories are of family gatherings during holidays, reunions, and visiting friends.
Harriet married Harry F. Dixon of Roswell, GA in 2001, who preceded her in death November 22, 2016. They were residents of Chambrell Living Center and Brookdale Big Creek in Roswell, GA. Harriet's younger sister, Gertrude Beiter of Cochranton, PA, was deceased in 2007.
Harriet is survived by a son Ron McElfresh and his wife Marge, and their children Clint McElfresh and Cara McElfresh of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter-in-law Dominque Wilfong of Choctaw, OK; grandson Vaughn McElfresh of Wasilla, Alaska; a daughter Connie Cenna and her husband Robert (Bob) of Dahlonega, GA, their children and families William Cenna (Andria), Daniel Cenna (Joanna), and Kenneth Cenna, as well as her late husband's children Elizabeth Dixon Middlemiss, Christina Dixon Page (Michael), Cynthia Dixon Finegan (Paul), and Robert Dixon (Jacki) and their families.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM, November 10, 2018 at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Irwin, 310 Oak Street, Irwin, PA 15642 or to a preferred charity.
