Harry Raptis, age 85, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home following an extended illness. Harry was born in Atlanta, GA July 14, 1930. He had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 13 years. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dahlonega. Harry began barbering in 1950 and was a talented barber for most of the next 55 years. He started another business in the late 1970's, The Atlanta Egg and Produce Company. He continued to barber is Flippen, GA and Dahlonega until he was no longer able. He loved his family and was dearly loved by all. His favorite quote "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving" sums up the way he lived his life. Harry was the son of the late Nick and Bessie Souther Raptis and was also preceded in death by his brother, George Raptis. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Raptis; son and daughter-in-law, Harry P. and Olivia Raptis; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Buster Ledbetter, all of Dahlonega, GA; sister, Margretta Smith, Douglasville, GA. A number of other relatives also survive. A memorial service for Harry is scheduled for 3 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service.
