Ira "Stanley" Murphy, age 88, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022. He was born in Union County on May 3, 1934 to the late Robert Stan Murphy and the late Mandie Josephine Cantrell Murphy. Stanley loved to spend time with his grandchildren, especially somewhere on the water trying to catch a fish. He was lovingly known as "Paw" or "Paw Murphy" by his grandchildren and will forever be missed by them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ether Lee Murphy and siblings, Linda Chamblee, Edith Tolbert, Evelyn Ethridge, Joyce Bunker and Louise Davis.

He is survived by his children, Melvin (Bertha) Murphy, Marty (Mary) Murphy and Donna Murphy, all of Dahlonega; siblings Ida Christian, Ellen Smallwood and Leonard Thompson; grandchildren Shane (Abby) Murphy, Cindy (Jason) Fawcett, Josh Murphy, Chris (Glenna Ruth) Carlisle, Christopher (Stephanie) Murphy, and Scott (Shauna) Poss. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive.

It was Stanley's wish to be cremated. Private family inurnment will be held in the cemetery of Yahoola Baptist Church.
