Imogene "Jean" Stancil, lovingly known as "Mimi," of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 87.

Jean was a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved dancing, tending to her flowers, caring for her pets, watching the wildlife around her home, and spending countless hours enjoying the birds that visited her property. She never met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation over a cup of coffee. Her warm spirit and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Above all else, Mimi cherished her family. She was an adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They knew they could always count on a hug, the sweetest kisses to make any "boo-boo" feel better, and a trip to the basement refrigerator that was always stocked with drinks and popsicles just for them. She wanted to know what was happening in everyone's lives and made each member of her family feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

Her family will forever treasure the memories she created. Lori Rae loved watching videos of Mimi dancing and the happiness they captured. Norah fondly remembers the Christmas when Mimi gave each of her great-granddaughters a birthstone necklace instead of toys, saying they were growing up much too fast. Aaron will always remember Mimi sharing her chicken nuggets with him. And everyone smiles when they think of picking blueberries with Mimi, even when they weren't quite ripe yet. These simple moments became treasured family traditions that will live on for generations.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Rick Stancil (Katie) of Hiawassee, Georgia, and Mark Stancil (Teresa) of Cumming, Georgia; her daughter, Tracy Porter (Charles) of Blythewood, South Carolina; her son-in-law, Mike Ramsey (Becky) of Dahlonega, Georgia; and an aunt who was more like a sister, Rosie Hill. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Brown and Ola Gilleland Palmer; her beloved husband, Hayden Stancil; and her beautiful daughter, Lori Stancil Ramsey.

Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on. She will be remembered in every blooming flower, every bird that visits the yard, every cup of coffee shared with loved ones, and every dance that brings a smile to those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Reverend Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park with Mr. Kevin Carlisle officiating.
