Jeffrey Andrew Fiala, age 69 of Dahlonega, GA passed away on January 1, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Lee George and Leona Fiala.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Audrey Fiala, Seatac, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Donald Dixon, St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Greg Fiala, Napierville, IL Gary Fiala, Wheaton, IL, Zachary Fiala, Riverside, IL, Timothy Fiala, Brookfield, IL; sisters, Barbara Hollingsworth, Alexandria, VA, Laura Witteman, Riverside, IL, and Maria Hawk, Riverside, IL. A number of other relatives also survive.

Jeffrey proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, during which time he was in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Corp. He had a lifetime thirst for knowledge, and loved reading many subjects, including history and science. He was a good handyman and loved fixing things, from televisions to cars. Family was most important to him, especially his children.

A Memorial Mass for Jeffrey is scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday January 6, 2016 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA.

Father Timothy Fiala will officiate.
