Obituary

Mr. Jimmy "Jim" Davis Norris, age 85 of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He was born on December 4, 1936 in Goggins, Georgia to the late John Ralph Norris and the late Frances Helen Davis Norris. Jim was a longtime resident of Lumpkin County and selflessly served his community as a school teacher in Lumpkin County for 26 wonderful years. Many of his students remember him for not only his teachings of academic excellence, but also for the stories he told within his classroom. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Jim was a man of many interests, hobbies, and talents. He was a scuba diver, a ballroom dance teacher, Sunday school superintendent, scout master, and an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time around a campfire.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his father-in-law Rev. Clarence C. Tritt and mother-in-law Mae Tritt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Kathrine Tritt Norris; children Evangeline Norris Anglin (Gregory) of Gainesville, Georgia and Dale Norris of Dahlonega, Georgia; grandchildren Dr. Ava Voss of Tallahassee, Florida and Andrew Voss of Gainesville, Georgia. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 4:00 PM in the cemetery of Mt. Pleasant Baptist No. 2 "The Hill" Church, in Suches, Georgia. The Rev. David Barton will officiate.
