John D. Ratcliff, age 95, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Northeast GA Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

John was born in Polk County TN November 9, 1920.

He had lived in Lumpkin County since 1990.He was a retired tax appraiser with Gwinnett County, GA government. After his retirement from Gwinnett County he worked at Walmart in Dahlonega as a greeter for a number of years. John was of the Methodist faith and was a WWII Army veteran.

John was the son of the late Emory and Nell Climer Ratcliff and was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Ratcliff; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Steve Riddle, Dahlonega, GA; grandson, Kevin Riddle, Kennesaw, GA; brother, Frederick Ratcliff, Cochran, GA. Several other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Ratcliff are scheduled for 3 PM Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Charles Grant will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Monday from 1 PM until 3 PM.
