Obituary

Jonathan "Raymond" Raines, age 48, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on February 16, 2026.

Raymond was born on October 31, 1977, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Jim Raines and the late Betty Major Raines. A lifelong resident of North Georgia, he was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and the deep appreciation he held for his family and friends. Raymond treasured the simple things in life and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He was an avid WWE wrestling fan and enjoyed gaming, especially the friendship and comradery that it brought to him. His warm smile and quiet strength will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his uncle, Johnny Major of Dahlonega; his aunts, Ann Chester of Dahlonega and Lois Pirkle of Flowery Branch; as well as numerous friends and other relatives who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Bethel Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Mt. Hope Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until the service hour on Saturday.
