Josie Moss Barrett, 80, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025. Born on October 20, 1945, in Dahlonega, she was the beloved daughter of the late Major Moss and the late Floye Rider Moss.

In addition to her parents, Josie is reunited in heaven with her sisters: Edna Odom, Pauline Rider, Cleo Moss, Leona Rider, Bonnie Lou Edwards, Viola Sheffield, Edith Mincey, Adell Bruce, and Marvine Grizzle.

Josie leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Ervin Barrett, who was the love of her life. She is survived by her children Stacy (Tami) Barrett, Steve (Heather) Barrett, and Dana (David) Sullens; and her treasured grandchildren Jesse (Allie) Barrett, Abby (Nick) Fisher, and Jake Barrett. She is also survived by her brother, Leon Moss, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Josie lived a life centered around family, faith, and the simple joys that brought her the most happiness. She was an extraordinary housewife and mother, pouring her heart into creating a warm and loving home. She adored her family dearly and found special delight in taking trips with her grandchildren, creating memories they will hold onto forever.

A talented cook and a devoted canner, Josie took great pride in filling her pantry with the fruits of her labor- jars of homemade goodness crafted with love. She was known for her generosity, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

For over 60 years, Josie was a faithful member of Hightower Baptist Church, where she worshiped, served, and built lifelong friendships within her church family.

A graveside service honoring Josie's life will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the cemetery of Hightower Baptist Church. The Rev. Philip Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hightower Baptist Church from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missions From The Mountains, in memory of Mrs. Josie. Those donations may be sent to "Missions From The Mountains, C/O Greg Bell, 6970 Highway 19 North, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533".

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Northside Forsyth for their compassionate care, and to Christina Bruner, AGP for her friendship and dedication.
