Joyce Bunker, age 61, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her residence with her loving family at her bedside. Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Joyce was the daughter of the late Newt and Mandie Cantrell Thompson and was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Etheridge. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa "Lisa" Bunker; sisters and brothers-in law, Ida Christian, Ellen and Benny Smallwood, Louise and J.B. Davis, Edith Little, Linda and Clifton Chamblee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Ether Murphy, and Leonard Thompson; two grandchildren, "The love of her life" Alyssa Lechelt and Haley Bunker. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Joyce are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Community Chapel Congregational Holiness Church in Lumpkin County. Rev. Pierce Ashmore will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Monday August 31, 2015 from 4 PM until 9 PM and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until funeral time.
