Martin
November 19, 1947 – February 9, 2023
Mrs. Joyce "Joan" Martin, age 75, of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Mrs. Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on November 19, 1947, to the late V.E. Sisk and Dora Mae Davis Walker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Harve and Callie Davis; step-father Burrell Walker; sisters Ruth Cain and Doris Martin and brother Virgil "Sonny" Sisk. Mrs. Martin worked at Southern Switches, Gold City Nursing Home and Personal Care Home, Fortner Electric and Cain Creek Mini Storage. In these places, countless friends were made, and innumerable pieces of advice and "long" talks over coffee will be cherished by those who were lucky enough to sit at the table with Joyce. She loved to fish and claimed the title as a professional metal detectorist. Joyce is a beloved mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Granny". She will be greatly missed.
Missing her most will be her daughters Donna Martin, Copperhill, TN; Debra Martin, Dahlonega; Dawn Martin Rittenhouse, N.C.; Kimberly Martin Pruitt (Glyndon), Dahlonega; brothers Ronnie Sisk and Terry Sisk; special friends Dorothy Blackburn and Bonnie Cantrell; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Lumpkin County Community House 111 North Park Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
