Obituary

Ms. Julie Gentry Sanford , a long time resident of Lumpkin County, passed away on May 2, 2020 in Hattiesburg, MS.

Ms. Sanford was born August 2, 1944 in Seneca, SC. She moved to Dahlonega in her teens and was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School.  She worked in local industry for many years and finished her career as a personal caregiver, serving individuals with disabilities in Tennessee.  In her retirement she was residing in Hattiesburg, MS, in the company of her sister.  She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Ed Gentry and Ms. Rosie Dove, and by brother Ed Gentry, and sisters Reba Hunsinger and Sarah Wright.  She will be remembered by many as a reliable friend, a determined worker, and a loving mother and grandmother.

Ms. Sanford is survived by two children, Deana Podany of Dahlonega, and Jeffery Davis of Rome, GA; by grandsons Aidan Davis, and Eli Podany; by brothers Arnold Gentry of Dahlonega, Bob Gentry, and Ray Gentry both of Cannon, GA, and Homer Hunsinger of Monroe, GA; and by sister Fay Danielson of Hattiesburg, MS.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
