Obituary

Kathleen Lee Clemmons, age 77, died Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Dahlonega, Georgia. Kathy was born April 29, 1947, in Miami, Florida, to Don and Mary Miller. In 1959 they, along with her two sisters, moved to Suches, Georgia, where her parents farmed hogs and cattle. Kathy attended Woody Gap school and was valedictorian class of 1964. Kathy met her husband Tom, and they were married soon after. She attended several years at the University of Georgia until Tom was drafted into the Army, and they moved to Germany. When they returned, they purchased land in Gainesville where they built their farm and had three children. They owned a pet store together until Tom passed away in 1986. Kathy continued maintaining her farm and hay fields and taking care of her children. In her later years, she became a Real Estate Agent, and then went on to successfully pass her Brokers exam. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for 10 years, as well as, worked with the elderly at Lanier Village Estates.

Kathy was well known for her hard work and love of animals. She was an accomplished equestrian and loved horses dearly. She preferred being outdoors and always had a bag of Dum-Dums in her car for rides through the mountains. She was an avid reader and gardener. Though she didn't cook much, she could always be counted on to whip up a batch of applesauce cookies if she knew you were coming over.

Kathy is survived by two children, Ken (Lynn) Clemmons and Michelle (Bo) Wiley, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her two sisters, a niece and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents, and daughter Marcia.

The family will host a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Equine Rescue League.
