Mr. Joseph Leonard Collins, age 66, of Gainesville passed away Monday, March 8, 2021.

Leonard was born in Hall County on February 24, 1955. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Harrison Collins. Leonard was a man that knew hard work and he never backed down from the task at hand. Leonard loved the outdoors, from camping to canoeing, he loved to be in God's beautiful creation. He was owner and operator of Collins and Collins Construction Company. He was a member of Spirit Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Karen Collins, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law Brooke and Adam Melton, Gillsville, and Brandy and Ron Cavender, Dahlonega; son Joseph Martin, Gainesville; father Ralph Collins, Gainesville; ten grandchildren, who called him "Papa"; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Audrey Collins, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law Anne and Ricky Whitlock, Gainesville, and Beth and Dwayne Hester, Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Carroll Pruitt and the Rev. Gwendel Gravitt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Collins' wishes were to be cremated following the service.
