Lillie Nellie Byers, age 91, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family.

Born on February 7, 1935, in Dahlonega, Georgia, Lillie was the daughter of the late Ellie Owensby and the late Charlie Waters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Byers Sr., and her sister, Pauline Gordon.

Lillie centered her life around the people she loved most. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She never met a conversation she didn't enjoy, and some of her happiest moments were spent sitting for hours talking, laughing, and fellowshipping with family and friends. Her warm heart, welcoming spirit, and genuine love for others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Loyd and Christy Byers of Hampton; her cherished grandchildren, Leia Byers and Luke Byers; her sister, Marie Sullins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Perdue officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
