Obituary

Mr. Lynn McWaters, age 89, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026.

Lynn was born in Brundidge, Alabama, on May 25, 1936, to the late A.J. and Bessie McWaters. Lynn worked faithfully for many years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he served in maintenance before his retirement.

Lynn was a devoted family man who loved his family deeply. He cherished the time spent fishing with his boys and took great joy in those moments together. Lynn was an avid University of Alabama football fan. Above all, he shared a remarkable and enduring love with his wife, Diane, with whom he was blessed to spend 69 years of marriage.

More than anything, Lynn loved his Lord and Savior with all of his heart. He faithfully served as choir director at Trueway Baptist Church for over 30 years, dedicating his life to the ministry of music. Lynn was never hesitant to follow the Lord's leading in song, and his heart was filled with a passion for worship. A true minister of music, he found life and purpose in lifting his voice in praise.

He held dear the songs that spoke to his faith, including "Look What I Have Traded for a Mansion," "What A Meeting in the Air," and his favorite, "Look What's Waiting for Me." Lynn left this world with a song still in his heart, continuing to make melody unto the Lord. On Monday, he departed this life to join that great heavenly choir, singing the song of the redeemed.

His legacy of faith, love, and music will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Diane McWaters; sons Tony McWaters, Mike McWaters (Elaine), Gary McWaters; Seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2026, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church.  The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to the service hour on Friday at the church.
