Obituary

Rose "Marie" Rouse Justus, age 86 of Dahlonega, GA passed away in the early hours on December 6, 2025 after a battle with dementia.

Marie was born in Dawsonville, GA on February 16, 1939. She was saved as a 12-year old girl when she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She always remembered how old she was when she was saved and who was there, even when she had dementia. In school she was a talented basketball player and loved the game. She married her husband, LJ Justus, on December 22, 1957, had 3 children and lived most of her life in Dahlonega. She was a loving wife, mother and Mimi to everyone. She was associated with Sisk Drugstore for over 30 years and served many people in the community. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dahlonega. Marie enjoyed spoiling her grandkids, going out to eat and shopping with her friends and family. She will be loved and in our hearts forever.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, LJ Justus, father Duffie Rouse, mother Mattie Edmondson Rouse, sisters Louise Peterson, Rowanda Pruitt and Charlotte Phillips, brother Guy Rouse, and grandsons Derrick Chisolm and Jason Barnes.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Clark, daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Danny Berry, son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Jennifer Justus, grandson and wife Casey and Heidi Barnes, grandson and wife Patrick and Hannah Chisolm, great granddaughters Laney Barnes and Kirby Barnes, sister Dianne King, sister and brother-in-law Lana Sue and Ron McDonald and many other relatives. We are thankful for the love and care provided by Debbie Brewster, Regina Barnes and Northeast Georgia Hospice.
