Martha Sue Fortner, age 75, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on May 28, 2025. She was born on June 5, 1949, in Dahlonega to the late Grover Fortner and the late Maudell Fields Fortner. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, BJ Wall.

Martha, lovingly known by many as "Nana Sue," had been a member of Cavenders Creek Baptist Church since 1960. She worked for many years at Southern Switches and was known for her strong work ethic and kind heart. In her free time, she loved gardening, working word search puzzles, watching Gunsmoke on TV, and taking trips to Walmart. She had a warm and loving spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Joey Gooch of Dahlonega, Bobby (Sara) Gooch of Dahlonega, and Kim (Joshua) Metcalf of Suches; siblings Ronnie Fortner, Barbara (Ralph) Anderson, and Jacky Fortner; and grandchildren Kaydence Radosta, Konner Gooch, Seqouyah Metcalf, Joshua Metcalf Jr., Elisiah Metcalf, Jayden Metcalf, Preston Metcalf, Cohen Metcalf, Khloe Metcalf, Tristan Gooch, and Aliyah Gooch.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Cavenders Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
