Martha Jane "Mam" Miller, age 79, of Suches, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born on August 17, 1944, in a log home in Suches to the late John and Ava "Vene" Woody. Mam was fortunate to live on that same farm for the entire 79 years of her life. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Bobby Miller; brother John Henry Woody; and sister Wanda Woody.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 61 years, Theodore "Pap" Miller of Suches; daughters Robbie (Lowell) Wilkins and Althea (Johnny) Cantrell, both of Suches; grandchildren
Jordan (Jamie) Miller, Darrien (Shawna) Wilkins, Eliza (Dustin) Simmons, Bella (Robby) Garrett, and; siblings Angie "Susie" Roper, Jimmy (Betty) Woody, and David (Diane) Woody; sister-in-law Cleo Adcock; great-grandchildren Elijah, Jayden, Nevaeh, Theo, Emma, and Baby Garrett.
Mam was the embodiment of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She had the heart of a servant and was always there to help anyone in need. Creative, funny, and independent, she possessed a toughness that matched her caring nature. Although she had a caring generous heart, she had a mountainous grit to stand her ground when needed. Mam worked tirelessly her entire life and could out work many half her age. She displayed a strength of will that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She never met a stranger and was always seen with a smile, effortlessly bringing joy to those around her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, to celebrate the life of Martha Jane "Mam" Miller and share cherished memories of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many.
