Byrnes
December 16, 1939 – December 27, 2024
Mrs. Mary Byrnes, age 85, of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024.
Mary Byrnes, known as Molly to loved ones, was born on December 16th 1939 and was raised in the idyllic town of Graiguenamanagh County Kilkenny, Ireland. At the age of eighteen she migrated to the United States, landing in New York. In October of 1964 she married John Byrnes and gave birth to a son, Timothy, in 1970. The family moved south to Stone Mountain, Georgia, where they were involved in the Catholic Church. In 1996, the family moved to Manalapan, NJ, where Mary became a secretary at Marlboro Middle School and John continued his construction business.
They continued to participate in the local Catholic Church, Saint Gabriel's, where John was an usher and a Eucharistic Minister, Mary was part of the Ministry of Counting, and Timmy was in CYO. After 30 years in Monmouth County, Mary and John retired and settled in the beautiful mountains of Dahlonega, Georgia, where they remained dedicated to their local Catholic Church, Saint Luke's. Mary was a very caring, empathetic and loving person to her family and friends. She loved Irish music and dancing. Mary was fond of having a chat with her sisters or friends, while drinking tea with a cake or cookies. She also enjoyed her chocolates. Mary delighted in watching her extended family's children grow and was known to send care packages to the little ones in the family.
Mary is preceded by her son Timothy, and her siblings Eileen and Ned. Mary leaves behind her loving husband John, sisters Anne and Brenda and her brother-in-law Robert, her brother-in-law David, her daughter-in-law Alyson, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Mary passed peacefully at home on December 27th, 2024, with her loved ones by her side. Rest in Peace, Mary. Suaimhneas Siorai Air Máire.
