Obituary

Mary Lou Ross Hall, age 77, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on August 27, 2024. She was born in Dahlonega on May 21, 1947, to the late Leroy Ross and the late Adelaide Adams Ross. Mary was a talented and crafty woman, known for her expertise in primitive crafts, sewing, and quilting. Her love for gardening was matched only by her dedication to her family.

Mary's professional journey spanned years in cosmetology and later with Lawson Products. She approached life with vigor, cherishing every moment and leaving an indelible mark on those around her. She was the cornerstone of her family, serving as their caretaker with unwavering love and devotion.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David Hall; her son, John Verlin Fortenberry Jr.; and siblings Robert Ross, Howard Ross, Hazel Tyson, and her twin sister Fannie Mae Weidner. She is survived by her loving children, Lesia Briley of Dawsonville and Samuel Fortenberry of Dahlonega; siblings Brenda Gail Ross, Tommy Ross, and Ruth Piper; and grandchildren Jonathan Briley, Kristin Briley, Marybeth Fortenberry, Samuel Lee Fortenberry Jr, and Victor Guerrero.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Tommy Ross. Interment will follow at the cemetery of Siloam Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
